Powder Coating & Industrial Painting in Richardson, TX

Richardson’s Telecom Corridor produces a particular kind of part: enclosures, chassis, racks and panels where the finish has to be clean, conductive where it needs to be, marked correctly, and RoHS compliant. That combination is more specific than most coating shops handle well. We run it with AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 behind it and silk screening in the same building.

What we run

Coating Work for Richardson Manufacturers

Enclosures and chassis

Powder or liquid over the right pretreatment, with masked grounding points held to a real boundary rather than approximated. If a masked area exists for conductivity, say so on the print and reference the requirement.

RoHS-compliant systems

Coating systems available in RoHS-compliant configurations, including hexavalent-chromium-free pretreatment where the specification permits. Compliance statements furnished when requested at time of order.

Silk screening and part marking

Panel legends, nameplates, control markings and MIL-spec identification, run in house. One vendor, one shipment, one certificate.

Thin-film options

Where a chassis has close-fit features or sliding surfaces, Cerakote at roughly 0.75 to 1 mil coats them without the masking argument that a 2 to 3 mil powder film forces.

Getting parts here

Distance, Freight and Turnaround

About 16 miles northwest — roughly 25 minutes.

Twenty-five minutes is short enough that first articles and color approvals are worth doing in person once at the start of a program. After that most Richardson customers ship or run a scheduled drop. Standard turnaround is three weeks from receipt of complete material and a complete purchase order.

Why us

What Most Coating Shops Serving Richardson Cannot Say

AS9100D registered

The aerospace quality standard, third-party registered and audited on a surveillance cycle — not a claim, a certificate you can download.

ITAR registered and DFARS compliant

Controlled technical data handled under access control, so a defense prime can release work without a flow-down exception.

Powder, liquid and Cerakote

Three processes under one roof, so the recommendation is driven by your part rather than by the only line we own.

Plating in the same company

Gleco Paint & Powder is the coatings division of Gleco Plating — one purchase order, one traceability chain, one certificate of conformance.

Questions

Richardson Coating Questions

Can you mask grounding points reliably?

Yes, and it needs to be called out properly. A masked boundary is a physical edge, not a machined feature — there is a build-up ridge at the mask line roughly equal to the film thickness. Tell us which surfaces must stay bare, whether the requirement is no coating or no coating build, and dimension the boundary from a datum.

Do you offer RoHS-compliant coatings?

Yes. Systems are available in RoHS-compliant configurations including chrome-free pretreatments where the specification allows. State the restricted-substance requirement on the order and we will furnish the compliance statement.

Can you silk screen and coat in the same shop?

Yes — silk screening and part marking run in house alongside coating. Legends, nameplates and identification do not need a second vendor, a second shipment or a second certificate.

What film build should I specify for an enclosure?

Powder typically runs 2 to 3 mils. Thicker is not automatically better — excess build causes sagging, poor edge definition and pinholes from trapped gas. Specify what the service actually needs and let the coating manufacturer’s data sheet set the range.

How do you handle deep recesses and internal corners?

Powder is applied electrostatically and the charge follows the outside of the part, so inside corners and deep recesses coat thinner than the flats. If an internal surface carries the corrosion requirement, say so — we will change the process, the racking or the gun setup rather than let it run thin.
