What we run

Coatings we run for defense programs

Defense finishes are not decorative. They are chemical agent resistance, infrared signature, corrosion life and electromagnetic performance — each with a specification behind it and a government customer who will check.

CARC Systems

Chemical Agent Resistant Coating applied as a complete system — pretreatment, epoxy primer and CARC topcoat — to the color and gloss the specification calls out.

  • Full system, not just topcoat
  • Color and gloss to spec
  • Applied and cured in-house

MIL-Spec Paint

Military paint callouts run to the governing standard, with the film build, cure and adhesion controls the spec requires.

  • Primer and topcoat to spec
  • Adhesion and thickness verified
  • Certificates of conformance

EMI / RFI Shielding

Conductive coatings that give a non-metallic or coated enclosure the electromagnetic performance a metal one would have, with masked grounding paths that actually ground.

  • Conductive coating systems
  • Grounding and bonding paths masked
  • Applied to enclosures and housings

Powder Coating

Tough, solvent-free finishes for shelters, racks, containers, frames and support equipment where impact and abrasion are the enemy.

  • High durability
  • Excellent chip resistance
  • Wide color availability

Precision Masking

Grounding pads, bonding surfaces, connector faces, threads and sealing surfaces stay bare — specified on the traveler and checked at inspection.

  • Grounding and bonding surfaces
  • Connector and sealing faces
  • Verified before and after cure

Silk Screening & Marking

Control panel legends, nomenclature plates, instruction markings and identification screened directly onto the coated surface.

  • Panel legends and nomenclature
  • Durable, coated-over marking
  • Artwork to drawing
Why us

Why defense buyers work with us

Defense work carries obligations a commercial job does not: export control, traceability, and a specification that is not negotiable. Those are the parts we are set up for.

ITAR registered

Registered with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. Controlled hardware and controlled technical data stay inside a registered U.S. facility.

AS9100D certified

The aerospace and defense quality standard, covering the coatings operation as part of Gleco Plating’s certified scope.

CARC done properly

A CARC topcoat over the wrong primer is not a CARC system. We run the full stack — pretreatment, primer and topcoat — so the system performs as specified.

Plating in the same company

Cadmium, zinc-nickel and chem film run at Gleco Plating. Parts needing a plated undercoat and a painted topcoat move between processes without leaving the company.

Questions

Defense coating FAQ

Do you apply CARC?

Yes — as a complete system. Chemical Agent Resistant Coating is specified as a stack: surface preparation, epoxy primer and the CARC topcoat itself. Applying the topcoat over an unspecified primer does not produce a compliant system, so we run the whole route in-house.

Are you ITAR registered?

Yes. Controlled work is processed at our Rowlett, Texas facility. Nothing is sent offshore and coating is not subcontracted to a third party.

Can you do EMI shielding and paint on the same part?

Yes. Conductive shielding coatings and decorative or protective topcoats are both run here, with grounding and bonding surfaces masked so the electrical path survives the finish. Call out the grounding locations on the print.

What about infrared signature requirements?

CARC systems are specified in part for their infrared reflectance behavior, which is why the color and the exact material matter and substitutions are not acceptable. Send the specification and the color callout and we will run to it.

Do you handle DFARS-flowdown requirements?

Gleco is DFARS compliant and used to purchase orders carrying defense flowdowns. Send the flowdown clauses with the RFQ so any special requirements are priced and planned rather than discovered at inspection.

Can you coat large weldments and shelters?

Send dimensions and weight with the RFQ. Large fabricated assemblies are routine work; the practical limits are booth and oven size, and we will tell you immediately whether a part fits rather than after you have shipped it.

Send the print and the flowdowns.

Specification, color callout and quantity. We will confirm the system and give you a date.
